About Me

Sonia Gutiérrez: Sonia Gutiérrez is a humanitarian, professor, mom, poet, feminist, and social critic. She attended CSUSM where she received an MA in Literature and Writing Studies. During her graduate studies, she was an Exchange Lecturer (2001-02) at the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain. She has been both published and interviewed by Fringe Magazine. In addition, her work has appeared in City Works Journal, CRATE: A Journal of Literary Borders and Boundaries, Mujeres de Maíz, Lavandería: A Mixed Load of Women, Wash, and Word (Winner of the 16th Annual San Diego Book Awards Association for Best Anthology) and the San Diego Poetry Annual, among others. Her work is forthcoming in Turtle Island to Abya Yala, a love anthology of art and poetry by Native American and Latina women. She teaches at Palomar College and MSJC—for Upward Bound and CAMP. Sonia is also working on her manuscript, Kissing Dreams from a Distance, a novel and seeking publication for her manuscript, Spider Woman/La Mujer Araña, a bilingual poetry collection.
